The tools make all the difference. Some of my go-to’s that make it look like I work hard.
Mandoline Slicer by Progressive
I bought my first one of these at a hardware store for like $11. I have never turned back and now own several of these. Can’t beat the price. Watch your fingers. You will cut yourself. We all do it…be careful.
Garlic Press by Zyliss
Sue me. I know people hate these things, but I ain’t got no time to do this by hand. Garlic is essential. This will safe you time.
Food Sealer + Saver by FoodSaver
Highly recommend investing in one of these if you plan on getting into Sous Vide. It’s a HUGE time saver. Check Costco first, but if not, this compact one will do the trick. You could also re-seal cheese, etc - super versatile.
Instant Pot. The one and only. 9 in 1. Pressure Cooker, etc.
This is the one thing I would say you need right now. If you don’t have a pressure cooker, it’s time. You only live once.
Vegetable Peeler by Oxo
Couldn’t get more phallic than this. Thank you OXO for this. My go to peeler, because it’s what mom uses.
Sous Vide Cooker by Anova
I have been super happy with my Anova’s. I am so happy sous vide is accessible to home chefs. I remember the first one we ever got was over $1,000. Now you get get for under $200 w/ wifi. Insane. Duck Confit - enough said. Do it now.
Deep Fryer by T-fal
For one that HATEs cleaning + maintaining things, this is for you. It has this function that you can filter and store the oil in reservoir below. I think everyone needs a fryer. Somethings just easier than using a pot of oil for.
Mini-offset Spatula
I use these for everything. I am constantly looking for something to lift, spread or flip and this little one is always my go-to. Great for detail work decorating.
11-cup Food Processor + Dicer by Cuisinart
This is the perfect size. Some will say its too big. I am warning you. It’s perfect. I use this for dips, coleslaw, baking. It’s non-stop useful.
Blender by Blendtec
Get yourself a good blender. Invest in a good blender. Whether that be Blendtec or Vitamix.
18” Weber Smokey Mountain Smoker
This is the go-to smoker and entry smoker for those who want to start smoking or fine tune their craft. If you have never smoked meats before, check out: https://www.virtualweberbullet.com
Roccbox Portable Pizza Oven (wood-fired or propane) by Gozney
I have (3) of these. Let’s just say I approve. I only use the propane option. It gets up to 900 degrees and cooks a pizza in seconds. I mostly use it for fish, cooked in cast iron pans. Check out other items I recommend for use with this.
10.25” Cast Iron Skillet, Dual Handle Pan by Lodge
This is just an amazing all around pan for anything, but essential for the Roccbox. The size is perfect to fit in the entire pizza oven - since it has no long handle it also allows you to evenly rotate pan inside oven to cook evenly. This is the only way I cook fish these days.
Leather Welding Gloves - Heat/Fire Resistent
I use these for everything. The Roccbox, to handle the insanely hot cast iron pans, the smoker, and also we use them when frying a turkey. These are going to be the best investment in your hands.
Oil Sprayer by EVO
This is a game changer. I first bought one of those Misto bottles, well a few of them, because they were all the rage. Someone gifted me a few of these and I immediately threw every misto bottle away. They are torture, I don’t need to sit there jerking off the bottle just for a few sprays of oil. This is what you need.
Silicone Oven Mitts
These are heat resistant to 500 degrees. If you are still using cloth oven mitts, then please throw them out and order these. I burn myself constantly and have the scars to show it. I do my best to protect myself, these have saved my life.
Pantry Essentials
Malted Milk Powder by King Arthur
This is the secret to the most delicious pancakes you will ever make. Also a key ingredient for a few other cookies + cakes you will come across in life. It’s one of my secret ingredients that I am now disclosing. Your computer will self destruct in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1…..
Espresso Powder by King Arthur
Most grocery stores will carry Espresso Powder, but when I am buying fresh malted milk powder, I will typically just buy this one from King Arthur -slightly more ounces and it’s not a glass jar, which they typically are. This will add great depth to chocolate frostings.
Everything but the Bagel mix by Trader Joes
I don’t even like everything bagels, but when I make them myself or add this seasoning to things, I enjoy it. It doesn’t make sense, I know, but here we are. I go through a few bottles of this a year. I am too lazy to leave the house, so I just order on Amazon.
Elote Seasoning by Spice Enthusiast
Trade Joes also makes an Elote mix, that is delicious, but I love this blend and also the price point + size is a great deal. These are all hand packed in Chicago and shipped out daily, so they are always super fresh.
